Holy Jesus. This is getting out of hand.

Somebody tell me what the fuck is going on with the Philadelphia Flyers. This is horseshit. Steve Downie, fresh off a 20 game suspension for an outrageous hit on Dean McCammond in the PRE-SEASON, is at it again. While both Downie and Toronto forward Jason Blake were being restrained by the ref, Downie decided it was a good time to punch Blake in the eye. Just punched him right in the eye while he was totally unprotected. Its called a sucker-punch and no sport, NO SPORT, including boxing, mixed martial arts (Ultimate Fighting, etc.), no sport, condones that. You cannot sucker-punch somebody in any sport. Downie disagrees, apparently, and so does the NHL.

Downie was not suspended.

Let's let this sink in for a while.

No suspension? Seriously? Considering the image that the NHL has developed regarding uncontrolled and malicious violence, wouldn't you think this was yet another opportunity for Commissioner Bettman to say "Enough is enough, you are gone", and toss Steve Downie out of the league? How does keeping Steve Downie in the NHL benefit anyone except Steve Downie? And who the sweet fuck cares about Steve-fucking-Downie?! This guy is a joke! His whole team is a joke. For a lot of people the NHL is a joke, and when shit like this happens and goes unpunished, I start thinking the NHL is a joke too.

I'm tired of this shit. It defies reason and logic that stuff like this can continue to occur. As far as I am concerned, it is impossible for for this to happen without some serious repercussions. Impossible. Steve Downie obviously learned nothing from his 20 game suspension, as much in evidence by the sucker-punch itself as by the shit-eating grin he sported on his way to the penalty box afterwards. Bettman and the NHL disciplinary committee should be ashamed, but I know they aren't.

This shit makes me tired all over.
